My goal is to use my photographic art to stir a sense of wonder and connectedness with the natural world by revealing its little known beauty and amazing design.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Being moved by beauty is an ancient experience, touching our soul in profound and important ways. It fills us with a sense of optimism, creating a call and response relationship with the environment. My intention is to stir a sense of wonder and connectedness with the natural world by revealing its unseen beauty and amazing design.
I am in awe of what is unveiled when I take the time to look closer at nature. What looks like blurry fuzz on a leaf or stem is actually individual starbursts of hair. What looks like a simple seed has such an intricate construction it would make a design engineer envious. Even roots have a hidden personality individual to every plant. Some are hairy, some lacy, some knobby.
As I continue to see the effects of a changing climate, it is easy to feel powerless. But hopelessness breeds inaction. I want my art to encourage and nurture the promise of the future. Hope breeds inspiration and the desire to act.
